Cowles Runs To All-Region Honors in Steeplechase at NEICAAA Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Wellesley College track & field sophomore Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) earned All-Region honors in the 3000m Steeplechase at the NEICAAA Open New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Southern Connecticut University.

Cowles finished fourth in her section and fifth overall in the steeplechase with an All-Region time of 11:06.54. Cowles was the top Division III finisher in the cross divisional event. She is currently ranked 13th in Division III nationally in the steeplechase thanks to her time of 10:54.53 at the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). 

Cowles last opportunity to lower her qualifying time would be at the MIT Qualifer on Thursday, May 16. The 2019 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships begin on May 23 at the The SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
