WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College crew capped a busy weekend of racing on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond, taking on Bates, Trinity, WPI and Rochester after earning a pair of victories in double dual competition with Bates, Tufts and Wesleyan on Saturday on the Malden River.

Any lingering concerns about the conditions on Lake Quinsigamond following an historic winter in New England quickly disappeared on Sunday as the teams competed in in near perfect conditions with only a very slight tailwind.

Blue Crew's varsity eight (V8) finished with a third place time of 6:44.18, coming in slightly off the pace set by Trinity (6:38.4) and second place Bates (6:44.18). WPI (7:03.91) and Rochester (7:09.54) rounded out the V8 field.

Wellesley second varsity right (2V8) also took third out of five, with the top-two switching places in the 2V8 race, as Bates (6:52.7) crossed the finish first, followed by Trinity (6:55.87). WPI (7:10.98) and Rochester (7:31.08) took fourth and fifth in the 2V8.

Wellesley's third varsity eight (3V8) also took third in its race, behind Bates (7;13.10) and WPI (7:35.35), while the Blue's Novice 8 (N8) recorded a victory with their time of 7:15.05 to defeat Trinity (7:21.84), Bates (7:29.85) and Rochester (7:53.82).

On Saturday, in sunny conditions with temperatures in the mid-fifties, Wellesley's V8 (7:18.1) topped Tufts (7:28.4) in the V8 Grand Final after out-dueling Bates in the second of two heats with a time of 6:57.2. The Bobcats finished in 7:02.3.

Bates got the better of the Blue in heat two of the 2V8 competition, racing to a time of 7:26.9 to advance to the grand final. Wellesley's 2V8, who posted a time of 7:57.9 in its first heat, went on to defeat Tufts in the petite final. The Blue finished with a time of 7:43.1 to the Jumbos mark of 8:05.3.

Bates (7:26.9) also took the 3V8 dual over the Blue (7:57.9) before the Jumbos 3V8 (7:57.7) topped Wellesley (8:11.6) in the petite final.
