Wellesley College is committed to providing its student-athletes with an opportunity to thrive in both academics and athletics. We know that parents and guardians may have questions about the resources available to their student-athletes and we hope that this guide will help you find out more about the services available both in our department and across the Wellesley College campus.
Wellesley places the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience. We deliberately seek to establish and maintain an environment in which a student-athlete’s activities are conducted as an integral part of their educational experience. In keeping with this philosophy, we place special importance on the impact of athletics on the student-athlete. Toward this end, we have attempted to establish practice times and game times that minimize conflicts with classes. Despite our best efforts, we understand that conflicts will arise. Academic commitments always take precedent over practice but occasionally student-athletes may miss class for a competition. Early communication with professors is critical in these situations.
Should you still have questions, please contact your student-athlete’s head coach.
As a member of the NCAA Division III, Wellesley student-athletes are required to be a full-time student, maintaining satisfactory progress toward graduation (on track to graduate in four years), and in good academic standing (maintain 2.0 GPA or higher).
