• Wellesley's Reece, Gedney Named 2018 AVCA DIII Honorable Mention All-America

    The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced the 38th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division III women's volleyball. Wellesley College volleyball senior Yasmine Reece (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and sophomore Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) has each earned Honorable Mention All-America honors for the 2018 season. The honor is the third career honorable mention All-America honor for Reece (2015, 2017) and the first career selection for Gedney.

The Blue defeated Hamilton, 3-1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-22, 25-14), but fell to Bowdoin, 3-2 (25-22, 25-16, 21-25,15-11). Wellesley, ranked No. 7 in the region, is now 17-5 overall.

    Wellesley College volleyball earned 3-0 sweeps in back-to-back matches in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. The Blue downed Geneseo, 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-22) in the first match of the day and celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-15) win over Plymouth St. in the third match. In Saturday’s second match, Geneseo defeated Plymouth St., 3-1 (28-26, 18-25, 25-16, 25-20).
