WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College junior Sojung Lee was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player of the Week for the period ending October 20th. This her third NEWMAC singles honor this year.
Lee went 3-0 to lead Wellesley at the Bowdoin Invitational this weekend. The junior picked up a pair of wins against Bowdoin's top two players, and also grabbed a win over Bates' number one. Lee opened the tournament with a convincing 6-2, 6-2, win over Bates number one, Lucy Brennan. She followed it up with wins over Bowdoin's Kate Winingham (7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-2) and Tiffany Cheng (7-6 (8-6), 6-3).
For the season, Lee has compiled a 10-4 overall record in singles play. She has also paired up with first-year Carina Chen in doubles, with the pair sporting a 10-2 mark.
Wellesley tennis is back in action hosting the semifinals and finals of the 2013 NEWMAC Championship. The Blue will play on Saturday against the winner of Wheaton and Springfield.
