BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Wellesley College tennis picked up seven more victories, competing on day two of the three-day Bowdoin Invitational. The Blue are competing at the individual event against doubles teams and singles players from host Bowdoin, as well as Bates College.
In doubles, Wellesley's Andjela Stojkovic and Lina Ye went 2-0 on the day to lead the Blue. The pair opened with an 8-3 win over Bates' Rosenthal and Voccola, and then topped the previously nationally-ranked duo of Mandzhukova and Erbafina of Bates, 8-5.
Also picking up a doubles victory was the Wellesley team of Dasha Kostikina and Caroline Dickensheets. They teamed up to record an 8-5 win over Blakely and Mattson of Bates.
In singles, Wellesley picked up four more victories. Sojung Lee, Carina Chen, Ye, and Dickensheets accounted for the Blue wins. Lee was a 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-2 winner over Winingham of Bowdoin, while Chen topped Bates' Mandzhukova, 6-4, 6-3. Ye got her win against Rosenthal of Bates, a 6-3, 6-1 victory, while Dickensheets topped Blaldy of Bates, 6-1, 6-4.
Wellesley will continue play at the event tomorrow at 9:00am.
