Squash Set for CSA Team Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Wellesley College squash team will compete in the 2012 College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships this weekend at Harvard University.
Ranked #24 in the CSA, the Blue will be competing in the "C" division for the Walker Cup, against #17 Bowdoin, #18 Amherst, #19 George Washington, #20 Wesleyan, #21 Colby, #22 Conn. and #23 Tufts.
Wellesley will open with a first round match-up against the number-one seeded team in the division, Bowdoin. The Blue will face the Polar Bears at 9:00am on courts 1-2-3 at Harvard's Murr Center. Full brackets are online at: http://collegesquashassociation.com/2012/02/22/2012-howe-cup-brackets/
Last time Wellesley played Bowdoin, the Polars Bears came away with an 8-1 victory on their home courts. Junior Cara Kaufman picked up the lone win for Wellesley, defeating Emily Simonton 3-0 at number nine. At one, sophomore Rosemary O'Connor battled back from 0-2 to tie the match, before coming up short in the final game against Torey Lee. First-year Lilly Tyson also lost a hard-fought match at four, taking a game from Alden Drake.
This is the first time since the 2007-08 season that Wellesley has competed in the "C" division. The Blue played in the "D" division last season, finishing fourth in the Epps Cup and 28th overall, while winning the "E" division, ranked #33 in 2009-10.
The 2011-12 Wellesley team finished the regular-season with an 11-13 overall mark. Their win total was the most since the 2004-04 season.
