Mass. -- The New England Women’s and Men’s
Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has named twenty Wellesley College
student-athletes to the Academic All-Conference Team for the fall.

From the cross country team, Skye Roberts (Grand Rapids, MI), Sarah Roundy (Hamilton, MA), and Anna Tupper-Bridges (Walla Walla, WA) are sophomores receiving the award for the first time. The three members of the class of 2014 have not yet declared majors. Winning the award for the second year in a row are juniors Cristina Lucas (Glendale, CA), Sara Putterman (Bethesda, MD), and Ada Smith (Stoughton, WI). Lucas is majoring in Political Science, Putterman is a double major in Art History and Religion, and Smith is a double major in Anthropology and Environmental Science. Being awarded Academic All-Conference for the first time is senior Cailey Stevens, an Economics major from Kodiak, AK. Finally, senior Amy Wolkin, a Biological Sciences major from Atlanta, GA, is receiving the award for the third year in a row.
Representing the soccer team, sophomores Ava Mokhtari (Eden Prairie, MN) and Emily Wilson (Portland, OR) who are both undeclared majors have received the award for the first time. Also receiving the award for the first time is senior S.J.Gray, a Peace and Justice Studies major from Montclair, VA. Finally, junior Megan Turchi, a double major in American Studies and Spanish from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, earned the honor for the second year in a row.
On the field hockey team, sophomores Alex Azzi (Rye, NH) and Kaitlyn Kirkaldy (Middlebury, VT) who are both undeclared majors are first-time Academic All-Conference athletes. Junior Emily Lewis, a Biological Sciences major from Weston, CT, is a second-time recipient, while senior Whitney Reid (Bensalem, PA) is a Biological Sciences major receiving the award for the third time.
From tennis, sophomores Kendall Tada (Hilo, HI) and Raji Nagalla (Hillsboro, OR) are both undeclared majors and first-time Academic All-Conference award winners.
The recipients from the volleyball team are sophomores Julia Adams (South Pasadena, CA) and Kira Jordan (Franklin Lakes, NJ). Adams is an undeclared major, while Jordan is a Chemistry major.
In order to be named to the Academic All-Conference team, a student must have, along with completing an entire season as a member of her varsity team, earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 or 4.35/5/0 after the spring 2011 semester and achieved second-year academic status.
The ten members of the New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference are Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
